The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate UG) courses is now open to international students as well as non-resident Indians (NRI) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) students seeking admission to central universities in the nation, according to the University Grants Commission (UGC)

The UGC has however made it clear that admission to a certain university will depend on the institute’s admissions policy for these individuals, even after appearing to CUET. Foreign nationals will still be excluded from the CUET requirement despite the new regulations because institutions are free to set their policies for admitting international students on 25% supernumerary seats.

“International candidates, NRIs, and OCI candidates may also apply for CUET (UG) 2023 and may appear in any of the cities outside of India that have been designated as exam centers. Nonetheless, all international, NRI, and OCI applicants are urged to visit the university’s website, read any pertinent policies, and follow their advice,” said UGC Chairperson M. Jagadesh Kumar.

The National Testing Agency introduced 24 exam sites outside of the country this year for the CUET, the entrance exam to the majority of central universities, including Delhi University (DU). The candidates can apply for the exam at https://cuet.samarth.ac.in/ website.

Our Correspondent

DUBAI

Students still enrolled in universities overseas can obtain exceptions to attendance policies at their respective academic institutions, thanks to a mechanism set up by the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) owing to circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to WAM, the MoE statement said that the move was to ensure continuity of the education process for those students and maintain effective channels of communication with them.

According to this mechanism, the students’ applications for exceptions to academic attendance at those universities due to the pandemic should be submitted at the end of the academic year, and not the academic semester, to the following email: ifada@moe.gov.ae.

They have to support the request with a message elaborating the reasons for the required exceptions, in addition to a message from the university regarding the type of study they have followed during the pandemic. The approval issued by the MoE for studying abroad should also be attached.

Along with the exception request, the student’s score reports for the academic years spent in the host country, the duration of each academic year and his/her entry and exit report from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship should also be provided.
