Bridegroom in India chases thief in Bollywood-style action

Dubai: It was a sequence straight out of the movies — the Bollywood kind. A robbery, a successful chase and a fight scene: all of them stemmed from a wedding procession in Meerut in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

A thief snatched a cash garland from the bridegroom, who was riding a horse during the procession [baarat], and took off a mini truck in Dungarwali village. In a video that has gone viral on social media, Dev Kumar, the groom, is seen leaving the procession and hopping on a passing bike to chase the truck.

Now comes the filmy stuff. Clad in a grey suit and red turban, Kumar jumps off the bike, climbs the side of the van, and enters the vehicle through the window. When the vehicle stops, the groom forces the driver out and punches him.Others from the wedding party also reached the site and joined the attack. The cash garland was retrieved.
Social media found the video hilarious.

“Cash mala was important than Varmala,” joked one X user. “He wanted to impress her new bride, it seems,” another wrote.

“We found the new Hero for upcoming Dhoom 4,” another user said on social media. “One video. 10 Indian versions of Tom Cruises. Hollywood should learn a lesson or two,” another said.
