Malayalam screenwriter and director K. R. Sachidanandan, popularly known as Sachy, was admitted to Jubilee Mission Medical College Hospital, in Thrissur earlier on June 16. His condition is critical and is on ventilator.

A statement issued by Jubilee Mission Medical College read, “Mr Sachindanandan was received today early morning at Jubilee Mission Medical College from another hospital after he sustained a cardiac arrest, few hours post total hip replacement surgery. Currently, he is being treated in critical care unit with mechanical ventilation and other supportive measures. A multi-disciplinary team is involved in his care.”

The hospital stated that the screenwriter was suffering from a brain damage and his condition can be assessed only after 48 hours to 72 hours.

Sachy’s debut was as screenwriter in the 2007 movie Chocolate in collaboration with Sethu. His first major break as director came through Ayyappanum Koshiyum. The critically acclaimed movie starred Biju Menon and Prithviraj in the lead roles was a box office success.
