Ayushmann Khurrana is on Time’s 100 most influential list

Ayushmann Khurrana has achieved another feat as he made it to the Time’s 100 most influential people list. The actor took to social media to share the news. He is the only Indian actor to be included in the coveted list this year. Deepika Padukone wrote a note for the actor in the magazine. In her note, she praised Ayushmann for playing male protagonist roles without falling into the trap of stereotypical masculinity.

Sharing that he has entered Time’s 100 most influential list, Ayushmann Khurrana wrote, “TIME’s list of the 100 Most Influential People in the world is out, I’m honored to be a part of this group: time.com/time100 @TIME #TIME100 (sic).”

He is the only Indian actor to enter the prestigious list this year.

Since the beginning of his career, Ayushmann has been very picky with his choice of movie. After his first appearance in MTV Roadies Season 2, Ayushmann found his ticket to Bollywood through Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Vicky Donor’.

What made him different from other Bollywood actors is his willingness and conscious effort to increase representation of different kinds of Indians in his movie by playing a heterosexual man in ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhan’ to mysterious blind man in ‘Andhadhun’. He is also known for movies like ‘Article 15’, ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, ‘Dream Girl’ and ‘Badhaai Ho’ that have started a conversation around different social issues.

In the times when everyone is talking about nepotism in Bollywood, associating with Ayushmann also seems like a safe and perfect bet. He is the boy-next-door from Chandigarh who has made it on his own in the industry. This makes him ever relatable.

While he chose to very offbeat films he was able to maintain the mainstream appeal.

For more than a decade, the TIME 100 annual list has featured some of the world’s most significant artists, leaders, scientists, activists, and entrepreneurs. The list includes people influencing the world while working in different fields.
