Arab League Summit Concludes with Strong Call for Permanent Solution to Palestine Issue

Manama / Baghdad : The 34th Arab League Summit concluded with a resounding call for a permanent and just solution to the Palestinian cause. The summit, held in Baghdad, underlined in its final communiqué — the Baghdad Declaration — that the Palestinian issue remains the central concern of the Arab world and that resolving it is essential for the stability of the Middle East.

Prominent Arab leaders attended the summit, with Bahrain represented by its Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani. He reaffirmed Bahrain’s firm support for a permanent ceasefire in Palestine and a comprehensive resolution that ensures the rights of the Palestinian people.

The summit was chaired by Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid and attended by several heads of Arab states and Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

The Baghdad Declaration reiterated:

  • Full support for the right of Palestinians to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.
  • Firm opposition to forced displacement of the Palestinian people.
  • A call for an immediate end to the war in Gaza.
  • Urgent and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to affected populations.
  • An appeal to mobilize political, financial, and legal support for the reconstruction of Gaza.

Additionally, the summit addressed a range of developmental and strategic initiatives, including:

  • Enhancing cooperation in economy, AI, food security, healthcare, and education.
  • Plans to establish a Council of Arab Trade Ministers.
  • A Bahraini proposal for an international agreement to responsibly use artificial intelligence for peace, innovation, and development.

Bahrain’s space program, Al Munther, was also highlighted as a symbol of Arab leadership in space exploration, receiving strong support from the summit.
