Dubai: Jebel Ali Free Zone-based AquaChemie has announced the acquisition of an Abu Dhabi-based chemical manufacturing company in a deal valued at over Dh100 million. The strategic purchase significantly expands AquaChemie’s footprint into specialty chemical production.
The acquired company, Global Chemicals Company, is located in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD) and operates a 26,000-square-meter facility. It is one of the few facilities in the broader Middle East, Africa, and Europe to feature in-situ sulfur trioxide manufacturing and sulphonation capabilities.
In addition to its core operations, the facility houses a multi-product liquid synthesis and blending unit, enabling the production of a wide range of specialty chemical formulations.
This acquisition marks AquaChemie’s entry into chemical manufacturing, moving beyond its existing operations in storage and support services. With the new facility, AquaChemie gains the capability to locally produce critical upstream oil and gas chemicals, such as:
- Sodium asphalt sulphonate
- Corrosion inhibitors
- Demulsifiers
- Biocides
- Surfactants
- Hydrogen sulfide scavengers
- Other specialty chemicals typically imported from abroad
The company noted that localizing production will help reduce supply chain delays, cut costs, and improve responsiveness to customer needs.

The move aligns with the UAE’s broader industrial strategy to boost local manufacturing, enhance supply chain resilience, and strengthen the country’s position as a regional hub for advanced industrial capabilities.
