It was around a week back that an actress filed a complaint against Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap for allegedly committing rape, outraging her modesty, and wrongfully confining her. A couple of days back, the actress claimed that the police is showing a lack of urgency in investigating her case. Amid mounting pressure from various corners, the Mumbai police have now issued a summons to the director, asking him to present for questioning on Thursday, October 01, 2020.
In the complaint registered, the actress had alleged that Anurag Kashyap is a repeated offender, and he has committed similar acts with another three actors. However, Kashyap issued a statement on the same day denying all the allegations made against him.
It was Rekha Sharma, the chairperson of the National Commission for Women asked the actress to file a written complaint against Anurag Kashyap. On September 27, the actress along with her lawyer visited the Versova police station and demanded a quick investigation on her complaint.
The actress also claimed that she will start a hunger strike if the police refuse to take action against Anurag Kashyap. On September 28, she met Ramdas Athawale, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment. After the meeting, Athawale revealed that his party RPI will launch an agitation if the police fail to arrest Anurag Kashyap.
Even though social media users are urging a strict investigation, Kashyap is receiving immense support from his colleagues.
