Indian Home Minister Amit Shah has been tested positive for coronavirus. The minister himself confirmed this news on his twitter page and made it clear that he is doing fine, but upon requests of doctors, he will get admitted to a hospital. According to the latest updates, Shah has been now admitted to a hospital in Gurugram.

“On getting the initial symptoms of the corona, I got the test done and the report came back positive. My health is fine, but I am being admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors. I request that all of you who have come in contact with me in the last few days, please isolate yourself and get your inquiry done,” wrote Amit Shah, as translated from Hindi.

Amit Shah has also requested his primary contacts to go on quarantine. It is still unclear whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in contact with Shah in recent days, and in that case, Modi may be also asked to go on quarantine, at least for the next 14 days.

In the meantime, coronavirus positive cases in India has been drastically increasing over the past few weeks. According to the latest statistics, the country has more than 1.7 million positive cases, and the death toll has already crossed 37,400. Considering the current trend, the number of positive cases in the country may increase in the coming days as well.
