American Airlines called on US Senator over maskless photo on a commercial flight

American Airlines on July 13 reached out to US Senator Ted Cruz reminding him about the airline policies after a photo with no mask on a flight went viral on social media. In their statement American Airlines said that face covering is mandatory for every passengers and team members while travelling to keep themselves safe from Covid infections.

“We are committed to protecting the health and safety of all those who fly with us, and we are reviewing the details of this matter,” they said in a statement.

“As we do in all instances like these, we reviewed the details of the matter, and while our policy does not apply while eating or drinking, we have reached out to Sen. Cruz to affirm the importance of this policy as part of our commitment to protecting the health and safety of the travelling public.” the statement said.

US President Donald Trump wore a face mask in public for the first time during a visit to a military hospital on Saturday. Trump had previously refused to wear a face mask even after the health experts recommended him to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Texas’s governor Greg Abbott last week signed an executive order urging the public to wear mask or face fine up to $250.
