Amazon launches car rental in UAE

Our Correspondent

The world’s largest e-commerce company Amazon has launched online car rental services in the UAE under Amazon home services. It will provide car rentals for clients in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah.

The rates for rentals are as low as Dh44 per day. The rentals can be a day or up to a month; the deliveries will be made directly to the selected address as quickly as three hours from the time of online booking. Amazon Home Services will not charge a security deposit.

“Amazon Home Services gives them [customers] an alternative option to traditional car hire, eliminating the hassle of queuing, having to travel to get their rental car, or paying a hefty security deposit,” said Amine Mamlouk, Amazon Middle East and North Africa (MENA) executive.

Users of amazon.ae can choose ‘automotive services’ under the online retailer’s Home Services option. The service can also be accessed by searching for ‘car rental service’ under the search option on amazon.ae.

Amazon Home Services team will ask for the user’s Emirates ID, driver’s licence, visa page of passport as well as a credit card to secure the car rental bookings.

“Within a couple of steps and a short three-hour wait time, customers can have the car of their choice delivered directly to their doorstep, all from the comfort of their own home,” said Mr Mamlouk.

Home Services umbrella in the UAE has a wide array of services such as house cleaning, pest control, plumbing, curtain cleaning, men’s haircut and cat grooming.
