Al Dhahirah Municipal Council reviews health, development, and community welfare initiatives in Oman

MUSCAT : The Municipal Council of Al Dhahirah Governorate held its tenth session for the year 2024 today, focusing on vital topics related to health services, municipal enhancements, and development projects in the region’s wilayats.

Chaired by His Excellency Najib bin Ali Al Rawas, Governor of Al Dhahirah, the council discussed several important proposals aimed at improving the quality of life for residents. Among the key topics was the beautification of the governorate’s facades, with plans to enhance their aesthetic appeal across various wilayats. Additionally, the council proposed the construction of pedestrian bridges at strategic locations on main roads to improve pedestrian safety.
The meeting also addressed the regulation of food carts and mobile cafes along major roads, ensuring that these services comply with health and professional standards, thereby promoting high-quality service delivery. Furthermore, the council deliberated on a proposal to improve public services at driving school sites in the governorate’s wilayats, aiming to enhance access and convenience for learners.
A special presentation was made by Dr. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Kalbani, Director General of the General Directorate of Health Services in Al Dhahirah, who provided insights into the National Survey Project for Non-Communicable Diseases. Dr. Al Kalbani also highlighted ongoing health projects, services being provided, and the region’s future health needs. He reviewed the Ministry of Health’s upcoming five-year plan and discussed strategies to further enhance the medical facilities in the governorate.

In addition to health and development matters, the council reviewed the 2024 recommendations from the Social Affairs Committee and considered the proposals outlined in the minutes from the ninth meeting of the Governorate Development and Development Committee.
