Aju Varghese collaborates with popular You Tuber Kaarthik Shankar, nepotism is the subject

When You Tuber and short-film maker Kaarthik Shankar decided to create a sitcom web series to pass the time during lockdown, he never thought his series would become popular. Now, when actor Aju Varghese decided to collaborate with him, Kaarthik is on cloud nine.

Karthik started the web series ‘Mom and Son’ in his YouTube channel when he couldn’t step outside during lockdown. His mom, father and family relatives were the main cast of the series. The subtle making and relatable content made the series a hit, getting around 2 million views for each episode.

Actor Aju caught the attention of the web series and approached Kaarthik to collaborate with him. This led to Funtastic Films owned by Aju Varghese and Vaishakh Subramaniam, producing part nine of the web series ‘Mom and Son’. This is the first time a movie production house launches a web series.

Nepotism in Malayalam cinema became the talk of the town after Neeraj Madhav openly criticised the practice of favoritism in the Malayalam film industry. Part nine of the web series comically sheds light on those subjects. Aju Varghese has guest-starred in the series.

Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Biju Menon, Asif Ali, Tovino Thomas, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Pranav Mohanlal, Sunny Wayne and Kalyani Priyadarshan released the video through their respective pages. Funtastic Film has produced Nivin Pauly’s ‘Love Action Drama’
