Abu Dhabi : The population of Abu Dhabi reached 4,135,985 in 2024, marking a 7.5% increase over the previous year, according to data released on Monday by the Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi (SCAD).
Over the past decade, the emirate’s population has grown by 51%, rising from 2.7 million in 2014 to over 4.1 million in 2024, reflecting Abu Dhabi’s sustained demographic expansion alongside strong economic performance.
This population surge coincides with notable economic achievements. In 2023, Abu Dhabi’s GDP grew by 3.8%, reaching a record Dh1.2 trillion, with non-oil sectors expanding by 6.2%. Non-oil activities now contribute 54.7% of total economic output, underscoring the success of the emirate’s diversification strategy.
Ahmed Tamim Hisham Al Kuttab, Chairman of the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi and Chairman of SCAD, highlighted that the emirate’s population growth validates the government’s talent-first strategy.
“Abu Dhabi’s sustained population growth reflects the government’s success in creating an environment that attracts international talent and investment,” said Al Kuttab.
“The 7.5% growth rate confirms that communities offering genuine innovation, world-class healthcare, safety, and forward-thinking governance—such as AI-native systems—are becoming magnets for top global talent. Abu Dhabi is not just competing in the talent market; it’s redefining it as a global career destination.”
The growing population lays the foundation for Abu Dhabi’s transformation into the world’s first AI-native government. Under the Abu Dhabi Government Digital Strategy 2025–2027, the emirate is leveraging advanced analytics and artificial intelligence to implement data-driven governance that anticipates citizen needs and optimizes service delivery.
This vision is creating demand for professionals in digital governance, policy analytics, service design, and technology integration — fields where traditional public service meets cutting-edge technology.
Abu Dhabi’s workforce expanded by 9.1% in 2024, with growth across all skill levels. Professional roles alone increased by 6.4%, mirroring the emirate’s shift toward knowledge-based sectors such as:
The population’s demographic strength further supports this momentum:
54% of residents are aged between 25 and 44, representing their most economically productive years — positioning Abu Dhabi as home to one of the most dynamic and competitive talent pools in the world.
