A Royal victory over Chennai Kings

Our Correspondent

Rajasthan Royals posted a seven-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings in Abu Dhabi on October 19. An unbeaten 98-run partnership off 79 deliveries between captain Steve Smith and Jos Buttler helped the men in pink win, with 15 balls to spare. Buttler won the man of the match award for his 70 off 48 deliveries.

Royals started on a bad foot; they were at a dismal 28/3 after losing Ben Stokes, Robin Uthappa and Sanju Samson for a duck. Stokes was clean bowled up by Deepak Chahar. Sanju Samson was caught by CSK wicketkeeper captain MS Dhoni in Chahar’s over, while Robin Uthappa was again Dhoni’s catch in Josh Hazlewood’s over. Buttler then took charge while Smith gave sufficient
support (26 off 35 deliveries).

Earlier, Chennai could post only 125 for five in 20 overs after losing key openers Faf du Plessis (10) and Shane Watson (8). Dhoni was run out for 28. Ravindra Jadeja scored an unbeaten 35.

Royals are now in the fifth position in the points table while Chennai find itself at the bottom.
