9 killed in massive fire at Vijayawada COVID treatment centre

Nine people were killed in a massive fire that broke out at 7 am at COVID-19 treatment Center in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh on August 9. Preliminary information was that several patients were rescued.

A private hotel located in Vijayawada was used as a COVID treatment center. This is where the fire started. Many people were still stuck in the hotel.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed shock and grief referring to the incident in his tweet.
“The fire at the Kovid Center in Vijayawada was very painful. My thoughts are with their loved ones. I wish the injured a speedy recovery. I have discussed the current situation with the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and promised all possible support,” the Prime Minister said in a tweet.
