COVID-19 has been confirmed for 8,516 people in Kerala on November 4. The district-wise break-up of the infected were Ernakulam 1,197, Thrissur 1,114, Kozhikode 951, Kollam 937, Malappuram 784, Alappuzha 765, Thiruvananthapuram 651, Kottayam 571, Palakkad 453, Kannur 370, Idukki 204, Pathanamthitta 186, Kasaragod 182 and Wayanad 151.
Twenty-eight deaths have been confirmed as being caused by COVID-19. Arifa Beevi (73) from Attingal, Thiruvananthapuram, Rajan (54) from Nedumangad, Ramachandran Nair (63) from Mylakkara, Mohanan (56) from Vamanapuram, Satyavathi (67) from Karumam, Raju Achari (58) from Kavalayoor, Unnikrishnan (83) from Karikode, Kollam, Mary Paulus (64) from Kothamangalam, Ernakulam, Chandrakanth (64) from Gandhinagar, NV Lyons (53) from Urumana, Shantha (50) from Ernakulam, Karumba Kannan (80) from Aluva, Ravikumar (63) from Chendamangalam, Dileep (59) from Pulazhi, Thrissur, Babu (58) from Mattathur, Ramachandran Namboothiri (67) from Nagaripuram, TO, Xavier (65) a native of Koonnamoochi, Rajan (70) from Mullassery, Komala (65) from Kolathode, Rabindranath (63) from Prashanthi House, Fathima (64) from Cherur, Malappuram, Abdurahim (80) from Chekot, Ali (62) from Meenadathoor, Kozhikode, Mohammad Bawa (74) of Koyilandy, Shakuntala (60) of Koyilandy Bazaar, Andru (75) of Kakkattil, Janakiamma (87) of Narikkuni and Appu (70) of Patannakadappuram in Kasargod. This brought the total death toll to 1,587. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Ninety-seven of those diagnosed with the disease were from outside the State, while 7,473 people were infected through contact. The contact source for 879 was not clear.
The disease affected 67 health workers. The test results of 8,206 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. With this, 84,995 people have been diagnosed with the disease and were still undergoing treatment.
There were currently 3,02,063 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 2,81,100 are under home / institutional quarantine and 20,963 in hospitals. A total of 2,972 people were admitted to hospitals on the day. A total of 71,270 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and 48,60,812 samples have so far been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay.
While there were 10 new hotspots, 24 areas have been excluded from the hotspot. With this, there were a total of 638 hotspots.
