8 candidates set to contest Indian Schools board elections on January 18 in Oman

MUSCAT: The 7th election for the Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman is set to take place on January 18, 2025, with eight candidates vying for five positions on the Board.

The candidates standing for election are as follows:

Shameer P.T.K., Head of Sales, Sharikah Fanniyah Omaniyah (Muscat) LLC
Damodar R Katti, Managing Director, Waleed & Partners LLC
Krishnendhu S., Lead Instructor, National Training Institute LLC
Nidheesh Kumar PP, Credit Controller, Dhofar Foods and Investment SAOG
Prabakaran Krishnamoorthy, Assistant Manager, Bahwan Engineering Co LLC
Dr. Saji Uthuppan, Senior Lecturer of English, Oman College of Health Sciences
Syed Ahmad Salman, Head – Trade & Marketing, International Foods & Beverages Co.
Vijaya Saravanan Sankaran, Manager – IT Infrastructure, Bank Muscat

It is pertinent to note that the current board governs 21 Indian Schools, with more than 46,000 students on the rolls.

Babu Rajendran, Election Commissioner for the Indian Schools Board, spoke earlier in a press briefing about the preparations for the election, which will select five new members from among the parents of students enrolled at Indian School Muscat.

The election process will be overseen by the Election Commission, which includes committee members Shakeel K.M., Divesh Loomba, Mythili Ananth, Tapan Viz, and Mariyam Cheriyan, under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, Sultanate of Oman.

The election will begin at 8 am and close at 5 pm. Voting will take place at the Indian School Muscat, with the gates closing at 5 pm. Voters who are inside the premises before the deadline will be allowed to complete the voting process.
