7,983 confirmed with COVID-19 in Kerala on Oct. 31; 27 dead

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 7,983 people in the State on October 31. The district-wise number of affected were Ernakulam 1,114, Thrissur 1,112, Kozhikode 834, Thiruvananthapuram 790, Malappuram 769, Kollam 741, Alappuzha 645, Kottayam 584, Palakkad 496, Kannur 337, Pathanamthitta 203, Kasaragod 156, Wayanad 145 and Idukki 57.

Twenty-seven deaths have been confirmed as being caused by COVID-19. Somasekharan Pillai (68) from Kollam Anchal, Thomas Joseph (43) from Thiruvalla, Pathanamthitta, Soman (56) from Peringilipuram, Alappuzha, Vilasini (75) from Cherthala, Kuttappan (55) from Changanassery, Kottayam, MG. Soman (63) from Koodalloor, TT, Varghese (84), a native of Ernakulam. PK Jose (75) from Alangad, Abdul Rahman (82) from Pallikavala, CV Babu (61) from Parappilly, KR. Purushothaman (74) a native of Kochi, Ousep (80) from Kakkanad, Thomas (67) from East Okkal, Mohan (57) from Erumappetti, Thrissur, Chacko (73) from Changalore, Roy P David (72) from Pazhanji, Chandran (73) from Chamakala, Govindan (74) from Anandapuram, Pauly Joseph (57) from Peramangalam, Krishnan (49) from Koduvayur, Palakkad and V Vijayan (59) from Koppam, Aishumma (85) from Malappuram, Veliankode, Ibrahim (63) from Kulathur, Prabhavathi (47) from Kakkodi, Kozhikode, Balakrishnan (83) from Changaroth, Subaida (57) from Thamarassery, Cochi (82) from Meppadi, Wayanad. Died. This brought the total death toll to 1,484. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

Eighty-six of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State, while 7,049 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 786 was not clear.

The test results of 7,330 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. There were currently 2,91,440 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 2,69,059 were under home / institutional quarantine and 22,381 in hospitals. A total of 3,329 people were admitted to hospitals. During the last 24 hours, 59,999 samples were tested. A total of 46,45,049 samples have so far been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay.

There were eight new hotspots and 12 areas have been excluded from the hotspot list. With this, there were a total of 686 hotspots.
