702 people confirmed with COVID-19 on July 27 in Kerala

Seven hundred and two new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Kerala on July 27 even as 745 patients under treatment have recovered from the disease. Sharing the details, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said, 483 are cases of infection through contact and the source of infection in 35 cases is unknown. 75 of the cases detected today are people who came back from foreign countries and 91 from other states. 43 healthcare workers were also infected The total number of COVID cases confirmed in the State so far is 19,727.

The Chief Minister also offered his condolences on the death of 61-year-old Mohammed from Kozhikode district and 85-year-old Ouseph George from Kottayam district.

The district-wise figures of the positive cases are 161 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 86 in Malappuram district, 70 in Idukki district, 68 in Kozhikode district, 59 in Kottayam district, 41 in Palakkad district, 40 in Thrissur district, 38 each in Kannur and Kasaragod districts, 30 in Alappuzha district, 22 in Kollam district, 17 each in Pathanamthitta and Wayanad districts and 15 in Ernakulam district.

One hundred and thirty-seven people in Thiruvananthapuram district, 65 in Malappuram district, 51 in Idukki district, 49 in Kottayam district, 40 in Kozhikode district, 25 in Kasaragod district, 22 in Kollam district, 20 in Alappuzha district, 16 each in Thrissur and Palakkad districts, 15 in Wayanad district, 13 in Ernakulam district, and seven each in Pathanamthitta and Kannur districts are those infected through contact.

The infected healthcare workers are 23 in Kannur district, 13 in Thiruvananthapuram district, three in Kozhikode district and one each in Alappuzha, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kasaragod districts. Seven KSE employee and three KLF employees in Thrissur district are also among those infected.

The district-wise figures of the patients who tested negative are 150 in Alappuzha district, 88 in Malappuram district, 69 in Ernakulam district, 65 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 57 in Kollam district, 53 in Kasaragod district, 49 each in Pathanamthitta and Wayanad districts, 45 in Thrissur district, 41 in Kozhikode district, 32 in Kannur district, 25 from Idukki district, 13 from Kottayam district and nine from Palakkad district. Till now, 10,049 people have been cured of Coronavirus infection and currently, 9,609 patients are still undergoing treatment.

A total of 1,55,148 persons are under observation in various districts of the state, 1,45,751 in home or institutional quarantine and 9,397 in hospitals. 1,237 people were admitted to the hospital today.

During the last 24 hours, 18,417 samples were tested. A total of 6,88,163 samples have so far been sent for testing and the results of 3,842 samples are awaited. Of the 1,14,832 samples collected from high-risk groups as part of Sentinel Surveillance, 1,11,105 samples were negative.

On July 27, there are 18 new hotspots while 17 areas have been excluded from the list. There are now 495 hotspots in the State.
