COVID-19 has been confirmed for 6,394 people in Kerala on January 6. The worst affected districts are Ernakulam 1,068, Kozhikode 729, Pathanamthitta 666, Kottayam 555, Kollam 548, Thrissur 502, Alappuzha 446, Malappuram 432, Thiruvananthapuram 416, Idukki 271, Palakkad 255, Kannur 219, Wayanad 210 and Kasaragod 77.
COVID-19 was confirmed within the last 24 hours by two people from the UK. With this, COVID-19 has so far been confirmed for 43 people who recently arrived from the UK. Their samples have been sent to NIV Pune for further testing. A total of six people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
A total of 63,891 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 10.01. A total of 82,24,781 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.
Twenty-five deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 3,209. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Sixty-nine of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 5,723 people were infected through contact. Contact sources for 551 are not clear. Ernakulam 990, Kozhikode 682, Pathanamthitta 595, Kottayam 516, Kollam 544, Thrissur 495, Alappuzha 434, Malappuram 407, Thiruvananthapuram 263, Idukki 264, Palakkad 105, Kannur 156, Wayanad 202 and Kasaragod 70 were affected by the disease.
The disease affected 51 health workers. Health workers in Ernakulam 11, Kozhikode 8, Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Kannur 6 each, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kasaragod 3 each, Kollam, Idukki 2 each and Wayanad 1 were affected.
The test results of 5,110 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 355, Kollam 285, Pathanamthitta 173, Alappuzha 379, Kottayam 736, Idukki 125, Ernakulam 946, Thrissur 542, Palakkad 153, Malappuram 421, Kozhikode 585, Wayanad 110, Kannur 260 and Kasaragod 40 had negative results. With this, 65,057 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. A total of 7,22,421 have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 1,92,085 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 1,80,947 are under home / institutional quarantine and 11,138 in hospitals. A total of 1352 people were admitted to hospitals.
There are two new hotspots. The new hotspots are Kuttur in Pathanamthitta district (Cantonment zone sub ward 13) and Shornur (5) in Palakkad district and one area has been excluded from the hotspot list. With this, there are currently a total of 446 hotspots.
