5,887 confirmed with COVID-19 in Kerala on December 29; 5,029 cured

COVID-19 was confirmed for 5,887 people in Kerala on December 29. The district-wise break-up of the number of affected are Kottayam 777, Ernakulam 734, Thrissur 649, Malappuram 610, Pathanamthitta 561, Kozhikode 507, Kollam 437, Thiruvananthapuram 414, Alappuzha 352, Palakkad 249, Kannur 230, Wayanad 208, Idukki 100 and Kasaragod 59.

A total of 61,778 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 9.53. A total of 77,89,764 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.

 

It has been confirmed that 24 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 3,014. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

 

Eighty of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State. A total of 5,180 people were infected through contact. Contact sources for 555 are not clear. Kottayam 728, Ernakulam 651, Thrissur 629, Malappuram 586, Pathanamthitta 446, Kozhikode 467, Kollam 431, Thiruvananthapuram 293, Alappuzha 324, Palakkad 91, Kannur 194, Wayanad 195, Idukki 95 and Kasaragod 50 were affected by the disease.

 

Sixty-three health workers were affected by the disease. Kannur 11, Pathanamthitta 10, Kozhikode 8, Thiruvananthapuram 7, Ernakulam 6, Thrissur 5, Kollam 4, Palakkad, Wayanad 3 each, Kottayam, Kasaragod 2 each, Alappuzha and Malappuram 1 each were affected by the disease.

 

The test results of 5,029 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 375, Kollam 348, Pathanamthitta 242, Alappuzha 237, Kottayam 581, Idukki 303, Ernakulam 377, Thrissur 604, Palakkad 379, Malappuram 475, Kozhikode 645, Wayanad 223, Kannur 203 and Kasaragod 37 were found to be negative today. With this, 64,861 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. A total of 6,81,397 people have so far been freed from COVID.

There are currently 2,49,162 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 2,37,076 are under home / institutional quarantine and 12,086 in hospitals. A total of 1130 people were admitted to hospitals on December 29.

There is a single new hot spot, which is Thirumitakode (Cantonment Zone Ward 6) in Palakkad district. Three areas were excluded from the hotspot list. With this, there are currently a total of 463 hotspots.
