5,848 confirmed with COVID-19 in Kerala on Nov.5; 32 dead

COVID-19 has been confirmed in 5,848 people in Kerala on November 5. The worst affected districts are Malappuram 920, Kozhikode 688, Ernakulam 655, Kottayam 567, Thrissur 536, Kollam 405, Palakkad 399, Alappuzha 365, Thiruvananthapuram 288, Kannur 280, Wayanad 258, Pathanamthitta 208, Idukki 157 and Kasaragod 112.

While 60,503 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, the test positivity rate is 9.67. Routine sample, Sentinel sample, CBNAT, TRUNAT, POCT. PCR, RT A total of 65,56,713 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.

 

Thirty-two deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. Vasanthi (60) from Venkamala, Thiruvananthapuram, Selvaraj (51) from Kallambalam, Shahul Hameedi (64) from Poonthura, Ramla (46) from Poruvazhi, Kollam, Chellammal (69) from Parumala, Pathanamthitta, Regimon (57) from Korathod, Kottayam, Annie Joseph (70) Kothamangalam from Ernakulam, KA Joseph (82) from Palangad, Ernakulam, KV Peter (65) from Kadakkanad, KP Varghese (65) from Ayyampuzha, Nithi Varkey (88) from Pallikkara, Jose (65) from Ammadam, Thrissur, Subramanian (84) from Chittilappilly, Raveendran (65) from Erumappetti, Viji Omana (56) from Ramavarmapuram, Unnikrishnan Menon (77) from Vellakkal, Shaheeda (69) from Koorkancherry, Ramakrishnan (78) from Keelepadam, Asainar (70) from Chavakkad, John (60) from Vazhani, Gini (33) from Kottapadi, Manikandan (52) from Muthala, Palakkad, Ummachutty (66) from Munniyoor, Malappuram, Kunjimuhammed (62) from Pallikkal, Abdurahman (72) from Velam, Kozhikode, Pathumma (85) from Thamarassery, Balakrishnan (77) from Karaparambu, Abdulla (88) from Vadakara, Ummer Kutty (70) from Vadakara, Ahmed from Wayanad Palamuk Kunjipathu, 60, of Paleri, Kannur and Abdullah, 59, of Payyannur. This brings the total death toll to 2,390. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

 

Fifty-three of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State, 5,137 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 613 is not clear. Malappuram 880, Kozhikode 645, Ernakulam 509, Kottayam 561, Thrissur 518, Kollam 400, Palakkad 198, Alappuzha 338, Thiruvananthapuram 195, Kannur 244, Wayanad 246, Pathanamthitta 173, Idukki 121 and Kasaragod 109 were affected by the disease.

 

Forty-five health workers were affected. Thiruvananthapuram 7, Ernakulam, Kannur 6, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Wayanad 5, Palakkad 4, Malappuram 3, Kollam and Kasaragod 2 were affected by the disease.

 

The test results of 5820 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 337, Kollam 410, Pathanamthitta 268, Alappuzha 551, Kottayam 588, Idukki 88, Ernakulam 492, Thrissur 590, Palakkad 405, Malappuram 1023, Kozhikode 460, Wayanad 148, Kannur 288 and Kasaragod 172 were found to be negative today. With this, 61,393 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 5,67,694 people have been released from COVID-19 so far.

 

There are currently 3,15,024 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 2,99,962 are under home / institutional quarantine and 15,062 in hospitals. A total of 1,721 people were admitted to hospitals.

 

There are two new hotspots. The new hotspots are Devikulam (Cantonment Zone Sub Ward 2) in Alappuzha district and Thariyode (9) in Wayanad district. Two areas have beeb excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 444 hotspots.
