COVID-19 has been confirmed for 5,537 people in Kerala on November 12. The district-wise break up of the number of affected were in Thrissur 727, Kozhikode 696, Malappuram 617, Alappuzha 568, Ernakulam 489, Palakkad 434, Kollam 399, Thiruvananthapuram 386, Kannur 346, Kottayam 344, Idukki 185, Pathanamthitta 138, Kasaragod 108 and Wayanad 100.
A total of 57,202 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate was 9.68. A total of 53,07,067 samples have so far been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay.
Twenty-five deaths have been confirmed due to COVID-19 on November 12. Rajendran (68) from Athiyannur, Thiruvananthapuram, Neesamma (85) from Thiruvananthapuram, Prabha (48) from Kodunganoor, Lazar David (66) from Pathanapuram, Kollam, OP Suni (48) from North Paravur, Kunjumani (70) from Cherthala, Alappuzha, Tahakunju (53) from Kaduvinal, Baby (72) from Alappuzha, VC Chellappan (70) from Kurumbanad, Kottayam, Guptan Namboothiri (70) from Ernakulam, Sajeevan (48) from Fort Kochi, Augustine (67) from Kelanthara, Simon (72) from Pullazhi, Thrissur, Vasu (60) from Eravakkad, Govindankutty (67) from Pampur, Somasundaran (66) from Kunissery, Palakkad, Bhargavi Amma (86) from Shekaripuram, Kunjaramu (80) from Attassery, Fathima (52) from Tanur, Malappuram, Amina (70) from Kozhikode, Rajan (59) from Vadakara, Janaki from Puthiya Kadavu, Amina (77) from Kozhikode, Abdu Rahman (67) from Iringanoor and Nafisa Kakkarayil (65) from Kadalai, Kannur. This brought the total death toll to 1,796. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
A total of 140 of those diagnosed with the disease were from outside the State. Sixty-one health workers were affected and the test results of 6,119 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative.
There were 3,15,583 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,96,773 were under home / institutional quarantine and 18,810 in hospitals. About 1993 people were admitted to hospitals.
While there were four new hotspots, 10 areas have been excluded from the hotspot. With this, there were a total of 616 hotspots.
