5,397 confirmed with COVID-19 in Kerala on Dec.25

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 5,397 people in Kerala on December 25. The district-wise break-up of the infected is Kottayam 599, Kozhikode 588, Ernakulam 586, Pathanamthitta 543, Kollam 494, Malappuram 466, Thrissur 374, Alappuzha 357, Palakkad 303, Thiruvananthapuram 292, Kannur 266, Wayanad 259, Idukki 214 and Kasaragod 56.

During the last 24 hours, 48,853 samples were tested. The test positivity rate is 11.04. A total of 76,13,415 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.

Sixteen deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 2,930. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

Eighty-five of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state. 4690 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 576 is not clear. Kottayam 571, Kozhikode 547, Ernakulam 416, Pathanamthitta 447, Kollam 490, Malappuram 438, Thrissur 363, Alappuzha 339, Palakkad 163, Thiruvananthapuram 204, Kannur 209, Wayanad 250, Idukki 200 and Kasaragod 53 were affected by the disease.

Forty-six health workers were affected by the disease. The district-wise break-up is Thiruvananthapuram 10, Kannur 9, Thrissur, Kozhikode 6 each, Ernakulam 4, Palakkad, Wayanad 3 each, Pathanamthitta 2, Kollam, Idukki and Malappuram 1 each.

The test results of 4,506 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 408, Kollam 218, Pathanamthitta 240, Alappuzha 224, Kottayam 485, Idukki 54, Ernakulam 601, Thrissur 594, Palakkad 200, Malappuram 508, Kozhikode 477, Wayanad 196, Kannur 252 and Kasaragod 49 were found to be negative today. With this, 64,028 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 6,64,951 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.

There are currently 2,64,984 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 2,51,299 are under home / institutional quarantine and 13,685 are under hospital surveillance. A total of 1367 people were admitted to hospitals.

There are four new hotspots. The new hotspots are Ezhukon (Cantonment Zone Ward 10), Chithara (Sub Ward 11), Ezhumattoor (Sub Wards 11, 12, 13) in Pathanamthitta District and Muthalamada (4) in Palakkad District. No area was excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 463 hotspots.
