COVID-19 has been confirmed for 5,378 people in the State on November 26. The district-wise break-up of the infected are Malappuram 719, Kozhikode 686, Thrissur 573, Ernakulam 472, Thiruvananthapuram 457, Kottayam 425, Kollam 397, Palakkad 376, Alappuzha 347, Idukki 256, Kannur 226, Pathanamthitta 207, Wayanad 151 and Kasaragod 86.
A total of 55,996 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 9.60. Routine sample, Sentinel sample, CBNAT, TRUNAT, POCT. PCR, RT A total of 60,74,921 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.
Twenty-seven deaths have been confirmed as being caused by COVID-19. Gopala Reddyar (57) of MO Ward in Alappuzha, Sheela (58) from Punchakal, Stanley John (54) from Mavelikkara, Gopalakrishnan (78) from Muthukulam, Palraj (79) from Peermede, Idukki, Sumathikuttyamma (82) from Udayanapuram, Kottayam, VK Basheer (67) from Ernakulam Perumattam, MP Sivan (65) from Kaniyanad, Eldos George (50) from Njarakkad, Ramakrishnan (89) from Vadannakunnu, Thrissur, Amina Beevi (53) from Pazhayannur, Abdul Rahman (80) from Kadangod, CL Peter (68) from Killannoor, Sharada (69) from Chavakkad, Anto (59) from Thazhekkad, KE Varkey (96) from Mangalmath, Palakkad, Ammu (80) from Malappuram Mangalam, Hamsa (50) from Kunnamangalam, Kozhikode, Ammukutty Amma (90) from Madavoor, Hemalatha (72) of Taliparamba and Aisha (76) of Peruva. This brings the total death toll to 2,148. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Seventy-six of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 4,670 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 582 was not clear. Malappuram 689, Kozhikode 632, Thrissur 557, Ernakulam 340, Thiruvananthapuram 310, Kottayam 421, Kollam 390, Palakkad 229, Alappuzha 326, Idukki 212, Kannur 184, Pathanamthitta 156, Wayanad 142 and Kasaragod 82 were affected by the disease.
About 50 health workers were affected by the disease. Kozhikode 10, Ernakulam 9, Thiruvananthapuram, Kannur 6 each, Pathanamthitta 5, Malappuram, Wayanad 3 each, Kottayam, Thrissur, Kasaragod 2 each, Kollam and Palakkad 1 each.
The test results of 5,970 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 488, Kollam 481, Pathanamthitta 168, Alappuzha 852, Kottayam 204, Idukki 84, Ernakulam 807, Thrissur 589, Palakkad 461, Malappuram 789, Kozhikode 709, Wayanad 129, Kannur 150 and Kasaragod 59 were negative today. With this, 64,486 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 5,16,978 have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There were currently 3,17,195 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 3,00,925 are under home / institutional quarantine and 16,270 in hospitals and 1,891 people were admitted to hospitals.
There are five new hotspots. The new hotspots are Marakkara in Malappuram district (Cantonment zone wards 8 and 9), Ayavana (sub ward 3) in Ernakulam district, Thalavoor (1) in Kollam district, Chathannur (sub ward 9) and Karimpuzha (2) in Palakkad district. Six areas have been excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 545 hotspots.
