COVID-19 has been confirmed for 5,177 people in Kerala on December 24. The district-wise break-up of the infected are Thrissur 591, Kollam 555, Ernakulam 544, Kozhikode 518, Kottayam 498, Malappuram 482, Pathanamthitta 405, Thiruvananthapuram 334, Palakkad 313, Alappuzha 272, Kannur 263, Wayanad 165, Idukki 153 and Kasaragod 84.
A total of 56,073 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 9.23. Routine Sample, Sentinel Sample, CB Nat, Trunat, POCT. PCR, RT A total of 75,64,562 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.
Twenty deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 2,914. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
A total of 108 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 4,542 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 475 is not clear. Thrissur 577, Kollam 544, Ernakulam 412, Kozhikode 483, Kottayam 473, Malappuram 469, Pathanamthitta 310, Thiruvananthapuram 241, Palakkad 186, Alappuzha 268, Kannur 200, Wayanad 159, Idukki 142 and Kasaragod 78 were affected by the disease.
The disease affected 52 health workers. Thiruvananthapuram 8, Kozhikode 7, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Kannur 6 each, Kollam 5, Thrissur 4, Kottayam, Wayanad 3 each, Palakkad 2, Malappuram and Kasaragod 1 each were affected by the disease.
The test results of 4801 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 310, Kollam 215, Pathanamthitta 228, Alappuzha 202, Kottayam 493, Idukki 241, Ernakulam 979, Thrissur 292, Palakkad 272, Malappuram 419, Kozhikode 599, Wayanad 179, Kannur 279 and Kasaragod 93 were found to be negative today. With this, 63,155 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 6,60,445 people have so far been freed from Kovid.
There are currently 2,70,725 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,57,013 are under home / institutional quarantine and 13,712 in hospitals. A total of 1645 people were admitted to hospitals.
There are three new hotspots. The new hotspots are Eraviperur in Pathanamthitta district (Cantonment zone sub-wards 5 and 6), Nagalassery (7) and Ambalappara (16) in Palakkad district. Four areas are excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 459 hotspots.
