COVID-19 was confirmed for 4,875 people in Kerala on December 9. The district-wise break-up of the infected are Ernakulam 717, Malappuram 709, Kozhikode 656, Thrissur 511, Kottayam 497, Palakkad 343, Pathanamthitta 254, Kannur 251, Wayanad 241, Kollam 212, Alappuzha 194, Thiruvananthapuram 181, Idukki 57 and Kasaragod 52.
A total of 52,655 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 9.26. Routine sample, Sentinel sample, CBNAT, TRUNAT, POCT. PCR, RT A total of 67,55,630 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.
It has been confirmed that 35 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. Arifa Beevi (70) from Karamana, Thiruvananthapuram, Salim (63) from Chirayinkizhu, Satyabhama (68) from Kulathur, Samuel George (68) from Andoor, Kollam, Marykutty (68) from Pathanapuram, Bhavani Amma (89) from Puthur, Anandapally Suresh Kumar (54) from Pathanamthitta, Thankamaniamma (80) from Kaipattoor, Aishammal (65) from Pandalam, Maria (62) from Churakode, Arifa Beevi (65) from Petta, Gopi (65) from Kozhencherry, KM Aziz (81) from Mallappally, R Achuthan (62) from Kumbazha, Sahadevan (82) from Thanneermukkam, Alappuzha, Babu Rajendran (63) from Kayamkulam, Shintumol (21) from Cherthala, Nafisa (68) from Cheruthuruthy, Thrissur, Ignatius (57) from Anchery (57), Subhadra Mukundan (68) from Thrissur, Pathumma (75) from Punnayoorkulam, Anto (61) from Elavally, Nafisa (70) from Malappuram, Ittichu (75) from Arimbra, Aisha (66) from Veliyamkode, Abdul Aziz ( 48) from Intanur, Kunjumutty (70) from Vilayil, Mohammad Musaliar (80) from Pazhakattiri, Aji (44) from Edayur, Appu (75) from Nadkavu, Kozhikode, Leelamma (67) from Narikode, Kannur, Fathima Amir (64) from Pilakul, KV Moideen (73) Chiraykal, Najumunisa (56) from Peringottur and Narayanan (81) from Choozhali were confirmed. This brings the total death toll to 2507. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Ninety-four of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State while 4,230 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 508 is not clear. Ernakulam 562, Malappuram 643, Kozhikode 614, Thrissur 496, Kottayam 496, Palakkad 188, Pathanamthitta 190, Kannur 209, Wayanad 226, Kollam 209, Alappuzha 188, Thiruvananthapuram 113, Idukki 47 and Kasaragod 49 were affected by the disease.
Forty-three health workers were affected by the disease. Health workers from Kannur 9, Palakkad 7, Ernakulam 6, Pathanamthitta 5, Wayanad 4, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur 3 each, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kasaragod 2 were affected today.
The test results of 4647 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 401, Kollam 281, Pathanamthitta 182, Alappuzha 363, Kottayam 311, Idukki 56, Ernakulam 532, Thrissur 437, Palakkad 437, Malappuram 612, Kozhikode 610, Wayanad 111, Kannur 217 and Kasaragod 64 were found to be negative today. With this, 59,923 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 5,86,998 have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 3,09,935 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,95,771 are under home / institutional quarantine and 14,164 in hospitals. A total of 1,499 people were admitted to hospitals.
There are three new hotspots. The new hotspots are Puliyoor (Cantonment Zone Ward 11) in Alappuzha district, Kattappana (Sub Wards 9 and 13) in Idukki district and Kallangode (1, 11) in Palakkad district. Four areas have been excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 440 hotspots.
