4,600 people in Kerala confirmed with COVID-19 on Jan 3

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 4,600 people in Kerala on January 3. The district-wise break-up of the infected are Ernakulam 728, Malappuram 522, Kozhikode 511, Kottayam 408, Pathanamthitta 385, Thrissur 328, Kollam 327, Thiruvananthapuram 282, Alappuzha 270, Idukki 253, Palakkad 218, Kannur 179, Wayanad 148 and Kasaragod 41.

The infection has not been confirmed in the last 24 hours by anyone from the UK. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed for 37 people who recently came from the UK. Their samples have been sent to NIV Pune for further testing. The result of 11 of them came. No genetically modified virus was found in it.

During the last 24 hours, 47,291 samples were tested. The test positivity rate is 9.73. A total of 80,66,113 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.

It has been confirmed on January 3 that 25 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 3,141. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

Sixty-one of those diagnosed with the disease on the day are from outside the State and 4,039 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 451 is not clear. Ernakulam 657, Malappuram 503, Kozhikode 485, Kottayam 371, Pathanamthitta 328, Thrissur 320, Kollam 322, Thiruvananthapuram 143, Alappuzha 254, Idukki 247, Palakkad 89, Kannur 140, Wayanad 145 and Kasaragod 35 were affected by the disease.

Forty-nine health workers were affected by the disease. Pathanamthitta 12, Ernakulam 9, Kozhikode 8, Thiruvananthapuram 4, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kannur 3 each, Idukki, Malappuram, Wayanad 2 each and Kasaragod 1 were affected by the disease.

The test results of 4668 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 264, Kollam 423, Pathanamthitta 199, Alappuzha 223, Kottayam 499, Idukki 178, Ernakulam 502, Thrissur 277, Palakkad 306, Malappuram 696, Kozhikode 583, Wayanad 127, Kannur 358 and Kasaragod 33 were found to be negative today. With this, 65,278 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 7,07,244 have so far been freed from COVID-19.

There are currently 2,36,664 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,25,295 are under home / institutional quarantine and 11,369 in hospitals. A total of 1241 people were admitted to hospitals.

There are two new hotspots. The new hotspots are Kadapra in Pathanamthitta district (Cantonment zone sub ward 2) and Karimpra (2) in Palakkad district. One area has been excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are currently a total of 448 hotspots.
