COVID-19 was confirmed in 4,545 in Kerala on January 10. The district-wise breake-up of the infected are Ernakulam 650, Kozhikode 558, Pathanamthitta 447, Malappuram 441, Kollam 354, Kottayam 345, Thrissur 335, Thiruvananthapuram 288, Alappuzha 265, Kannur 262, Idukki 209, Palakkad 175, Wayanad 173 and Kasaragod 43.
COVID-19 confirmed in the last 24 hours for three people from the UK. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed for 53 people who recently came from the UK. Their samples have been sent to NIV Pune for further testing. A total of 6 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
A total of 45,695 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 9.95. A total of 84,51,897 samples have been sent for testing so far, including LAMP and antigen testing.
It has been confirmed 23 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 3,302. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Seventy-eight of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 4,003 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 422 is not clear. Ernakulam 577, Kozhikode 534, Pathanamthitta 382, Malappuram 418, Kollam 352, Kottayam 312, Thrissur 329, Thiruvananthapuram 167, Alappuzha 255, Kannur 226, Idukki 197, Palakkad 48, Wayanad 164 and Kasaragod 42 were affected by the disease.
The disease affected 42 health workers. Pathanamthitta 10, Kannur 8, Ernakulam 7, Kozhikode 6, Thiruvananthapuram 3, Palakkad, Malappuram 2 each, Kollam, Thrissur, Wayanad and Kasaragod 1 each.
The test results of 4659 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 395, Kollam 229, Pathanamthitta 327, Alappuzha 218, Kottayam 470, Idukki 200, Ernakulam 718, Thrissur 303, Palakkad 249, Malappuram 511, Kozhikode 511, Wayanad 228, Kannur 242 and Kasaragod 58 were tested negative today. With this, 64,179 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 7,43,467 have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 2,03,935 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 1,92,981 are under home / institutional quarantine and 10,954 are under hospital surveillance. A total of 1,155 people were admitted to hospitals.
There are three new hotspots. The new hotspots are Nooranad (Cantonment Zone Wards 1, 10), Thakazhi (3) in Alappuzha district and Karunapuram (Sub Wards 4 and 6) in Idukki district. An area was excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are currently a total of 441 hotspots.
