COVID-19 has been confirmed for 3,346 people in Kerala on January 18. The district-wise break-up of the number of infected are Ernakulam 574, Kozhikode 385, Malappuram 357, Kollam 322, Kottayam 308, Thiruvananthapuram 296, Kannur 187, Thrissur 182, Alappuzha 179, Idukki 178, Palakkad 152, Pathanamthitta 123, Wayanad 68 and Kasaragod 35 districts were affected today.
COVID-19 has not been confirmed in the last 24 hours by anyone from the UK. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed by 56 people who recently came from the UK. Their samples have been sent to NIV Pune for further testing. A total of 9 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
A total of 33,093 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 10.11. A total of 89,54,140 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.
It has been confirmed that COVID-19 is the cause of 17 deaths in the last few days. This brings the total death toll to 3,480. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Forty-two of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 2,965 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 286 is not clear. Ernakulam 540, Kozhikode 371, Malappuram 331, Kollam 318, Kottayam 272, Thiruvananthapuram 204, Kannur 138, Thrissur 176, Alappuzha 172, Idukki 167, Palakkad 77, Pathanamthitta 109, Wayanad 61 and Kasaragod 29 were affected by the disease.
The disease affected 53 health workers. Kannur 23, Kozhikode 5, Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam 4 each, Ernakulam, Palakkad 3 each, Kollam, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kasaragod 2 each, Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Thrissur 1 each.
The test results of 3,921 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 218, Kollam 267, Pathanamthitta 333, Alappuzha 559, Kottayam 109, Idukki 49, Ernakulam 518, Thrissur 605, Palakkad 186, Malappuram 488, Kozhikode 350, Wayanad 55, Kannur 167 and Kasaragod 17 had negative results today. With this, 68,399 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 7,79,097 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 2,09,786 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 1,98,681 are under home / institutional quarantine and 11,105 in hospitals. A total of 1247 people were admitted to hospitals.
There is a new hot spot, Cherukole (Cantonment Zone Wards 1, 4) in Pathanamthitta district. Two areas were excluded from the hotspot list. With this, there are currently a total of 419 hotspots.
