COVID-19 has been confirmed for 3,272 people in Kerala on December 7. The district-wise break-up of the infected were Malappuram 541, Kozhikode 383, Thrissur 304, Kollam 292, Alappuzha 287, Ernakulam 278, Thiruvananthapuram 255, Kottayam 202, Palakkad 202, Kannur 154, Idukki 146, Pathanamthitta 121, Wayanad 63 and Kasaragod 44 districts.
During the last 24 hours, 33,758 samples were tested. The test positivity rate is 9.69. Routine sample, Sentinel sample, CBNAT, TRUNAT, POCT. PCR, RT A total of 66,42,364 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.
It has been confirmed that 23 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. Pappachan (75) from Pandithita, Bhaskaran (80) from Cherthala, Alappuzha, Joseph (78) from Kalavoor, Ammini (83) from Muhamma, Rajan (65) from Vaikom, Kottayam, PP Gopi (72) from Kudamalur, Sankaran (84) from Thrissur, Unnikrishnan (60) from Thalikulam, Sankarankutty (75) from Pathiyaram, Raghavan (88) from Iringalakuda, Aishakutty (75) from Nilambur, Malappuram, Kunjathu (72) from Amarambalam, Unnimoitheen (78) from Patandara, Vasudevan (78) from Puthiyangadi, Kozhikode, Kunhali (85), Kodancherry (85), Ismail (70) from Panteerankavu, Aishamma (84) from Karuvampoil and Sreenivasan (72) from Farooq College. This brings the total death toll to 2,441. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Forty-nine of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 2,859 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 328 is not clear. Malappuram 514, Kozhikode 362, Thrissur 295, Kollam 287, Alappuzha 277, Ernakulam 203, Thiruvananthapuram 179, Kottayam 199, Palakkad 93, Kannur 117, Idukki 137, Pathanamthitta 99, Wayanad 58 and Kasaragod 39 were affected by contact.
Thirty-six health workers were affected. Kannur 10, Ernakulam 7, Kozhikode 6, Thiruvananthapuram 4, Palakkad 3, Thrissur 2, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki and Wayanad 1 were the district-wsie break-up of health workers who were affected.
The test results of 4,705 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 297, Kollam 329, Pathanamthitta 171, Alappuzha 312, Kottayam 354, Idukki 119, Ernakulam 354, Thrissur 563, Palakkad 323, Malappuram 864, Kozhikode 571, Wayanad 150, Kannur 234 and Kasaragod 64 had negative results today. With this, 59,467 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 5,77,616 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 3,09,887 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 2,95,304 are under home / institutional quarantine and 14,583 in hospitals. A total of 1,353 people were admitted to hospitals.
There are three new hotspots. The new hotspots are Thamarakulam (Cantonment Zone Sub Ward 4) in Alappuzha district, Vadakkancherry (11) in Palakkad district and Vellavur (9) in Kottayam district. An area has been excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 448 hotspots.
