2,988 confirmed with COVID-10 on Sept. 11 in Kerala; 14 death reported

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 2,988 people in Kerala and 14 deaths have been confirmed as being caused by the viral infection on September 11. The test results of 1326 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative.

The district-wise tally of those affected were 494 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 390 in Malappuram district, 303 in Kollam district, 295 in Ernakulam district, 261 in Kozhikode district, 256 in Kannur district, 221 in Kottayam district, 200 in Alappuzha district, 184 in Thrissur district, 109 in Palakkad district, 102 in Kasaragod district, 93 in Pathanamthitta district, 52 in Wayanad district and 28 in Idukki district.

The people whose death have been confirmed due to COVID-19 were Jyothismati Amma (75), a resident of Pappanamkode, Thiruvananthapuram, Basheer (82), a resident of Mavoor, Kozhikode, Biju (47), a resident of Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram; C.S. Joseph (68) of Kollesheri, Ernakulam, Babu Varghese (66) from Thachambara, Palakkad, Leela (77) from Cherthala, Alappuzha; Job Alexander (83) from Thycauttusheri, Alappuzha; Unnikamat (71) of Chembrakattoor, Malappuram; Krishnan (73), a native of Mavilai, Kannur; Aboobacker (67) of Chalakkudi, Thrissur; Paul (63) of Kaloor, Ernakulam; Suleiman (49) of Kalleppadam, Thrissur; Raman (75) of Vadkkacheri, Thrissur; and Nadeera Samad (66), a resident of Kilimanoor, Thiruvananthapuram. This brings the total death toll to 410. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

Forty-five of those diagnosed with the disease were from foreign countries and 134 from other states. A total of 2,738 people were infected through contact. The contact source of 285 of them is not clear.

Fifty-two health workers were also affected by the disease, while 16 INHS in Ernakulam District Employees and three BCMC employees in Pathanamthitta district were also affected.

The test results of 1,326 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative.

There are currently 2,03,256 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of those under observation, 1,81,764 are under home / institutional quarantine and 21,492 are under observation in hospitals. A total of 2,689 people were admitted to hospitals.

A total of 35,056 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 20,53,801 samples have been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay. As part of Sentinel Surveillance, 1,87,392 samples were sent for testing from priority groups such as health workers, guest workers and people with greater social contact.

There are 18 new hotspots and 17 areas have been excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are currently 594 hotspots in Kerala.
