274 researchers vie for Oman’s 11th National Scientific Research Award

MUSCAT : Of the total participants, 167 are from the category of PhD holders or their equivalent, including senior specialists or doctors, while 107 emerging researchers – those without a PhD – are vying for the award in the emerging researcher category.

The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation is set to announce the winners during the annual Researchers’ Forum (Innovation and Entrepreneurship) next Monday at the Oman Across Ages Museum. The event will showcase the best scientific research contributions in both categories, with the winners being honoured for their outstanding work in various research fields.

H.E. Dr. Saif bin Abdullah Al-Haddabi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation for Scientific Research and Innovation, highlighted that the award covers the best-published scientific research in six key sectors: education and human resources, information and communication systems, health and community service, energy and industry, culture, humanities, social and basic sciences, and environment and biological resources.

The annual Researchers’ Forum is a significant event for the scientific community, providing researchers and interested parties the opportunity to explore the latest developments in various fields, exchange knowledge, and promote innovation. It encourages researchers to actively submit their proposals and publicize their findings, fostering collaboration between academic, scientific, and societal sectors.
Additionally, the forum will feature the signing of research contracts for the Strategic Research Projects Program and the Efficiency-Based Institutional Funding Program, both aimed at supporting government institutions and higher education institutions, respectively.

The forum will also include two working sessions: one focusing on the role of institutions in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, and the other detailing the journey of an innovator from concept to implementation. An exhibition showcasing winning research projects and a review of innovative projects by prominent figures will be part of the event.
