More than 200 people were confirmed with COVID-19 for the second day in succession on July 4; 209 people who were under treatment were cured of the infection on the day.
Of the total 240 people who got infected on July 4, the highest in a day in Kerala until now, 150 arrived from abroad and 52 people from other states; 17 got the infection through contact.
Of the infected, 37 people are in Malappuram district, 35 in Kannur district, 29 in Palakkad district, 22 in Pathanamthitta district, 20 each in Alappuzha and Thrissur districts, 16 each in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts, 14 in Kasargod district, 13 in Ernakulam district; eight in Kozhikode district, six in Kottayam district and two each in Idukki and Wayanad districts.
There are 13 new hotspots in the State and seven were removed from the list. There are 135 hotspots in the State.
While 2,129 people are under treatment for COVID-19 in hospitals, 369 were admitted on July 4 and 1,77,759 people are under observation in the State.
In Kannur, 11 DSS personnel and four CISF personnel got infected; in Thrissur four BSF Jawans were also infected. Twenty-eight policemen were sent for quarantine in Thruvananthapuram.
