2,333 confirmed with COVID-19 in Kerala on Aug. 19

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 2,333 people in Kerala on August 19 along seven deaths due to the viral infection.
The district-wise break-up of COVID-19 is as follows: 540 people in Thiruvananthapuram district, 322 in Malappuram district, 253 in Alappuzha district, 230 in Ernakulam district, 203 in Kottayam district, 174 in Kasaragod district, 126 in Kannur district, 97 in Thrissur district, 87 in Pathanamthitta district. 78 in Kozhikode district, 77 in Kollam district, 65 in Palakkad district, 64 in Idukki district and 17 people in Wayanad district.

Bhargavi (90) from Kalady South, Thiruvananthapuram; Shamsudeen (65) from Adoor, Pathanamthitta; Meenakshi (86) from Aryanad, Thiruvananthapuram; Rajan (56) from Kulathupuzha, Kollam; Jameela (53) a native of Aluva, Ernakulam; TV Mathai (67), a native of Kothamangalam, Ernakulam, who died on August 18. Thankappan (64), a native of Kothad, Ernakulam, who died on August 14, were due to Kovid-19. This brings the total death toll to 182. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

On August 19, 60 of those diagnosed with the disease arrived from foreign countries and 98 from other states. 2151 people were infected through contact. The contact source of 53 of them is not clear. Seventeen health workers were affected by the disease. Seven INHS Employees in Ernakulam District were also affected by the disease.

The test results of 1,217 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. There are currently 1,69,687 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of those under observation, 1,55,928 are under home / institutional quarantine and 13,759 are under observation in hospitals. One thousand, seven hundred and thirty people were admitted to the hospital on August 19.
On August 19, 19 new hotspots were declared while 12 areas have been excluded from the hotspot.
