1,251 people confirmed with COVID-19 on Aug. 7; 814 cured

One thousand two hundred and fifty-one people were confirmed with COVID-19 on August 7 and 814 were cured. Of the total, 1, 061 people were infected through contact. Five deaths from the infection were also confirmed on the day, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.

The source of infection of 73 was not known. Of the total infected, 77 people arrived from abroad.

Those who died from the infection were identified as Mampurathu Imbichikoya Haji (68) from Malappuram, Sajith, Koodali, Kannur, Gopakumaran (60) of Uchakkad, Thiruvananthapuram, PG Babu (60), Ilamakkara, Ernakulam and Sudheer (63), Poochakka, Alappuzha.
The number of COVID-19 cases was more than 100 in five districts on August 7. In Thiruvananthapuram it was 289, in Kasargod it was168, in Kozhikode it was 149, in Malappuram it was142 and 123 people in Palakkad.

In the last 24 hours, 27,608 samples have been tested, the Chief Minister said.
