1,195 people confirmed with COVID-19 on Aug. 5; 1,234 cured

On August 5, 1,195 were confirmed with COVID-19 even as 1,234 patients were cured of the infection. Of the total, 971 people were infected through contact and the source of infection of 79 people is not known.

Thirteen health workers were also infected on the day. Of the total infected 66 had arrived from abroad and 125 from other States of the country.

The district-wise break of the number of infected are as follows: 274 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 167 in Malappuram district, 128 in Kasargod district, 120 in Ernakulam district, 108 in Alappuzha, 86 in Thrissur district, 61 in Kannur district, 51 in Kottayam district, 41 in Palakkad district 39 in Kozhilkode and Idukki districts, 37 in Pathanamthitta district, 30 in Kollam district, and 14 in Wayanad district.
