1,103 people test positive for COVID-19 in Kerala on July 25

For the third day in July the number of people who tested positive for COVID-crossed 1,000. On July 25, 1,103 tested positive while 1,049 were cured of the infection. Five deaths from the infection were also recorded on the day.

The district-wise number of infected on the day are as follows: 240 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 110 in Kozhikode district, 105 in Kasargod district, 102 in Alappuzha district, 80 in Kollam district, 79 in Ernakulam district, 77 in Kottayam district, 68 in Malappuram district, 62 in Kannur district, 52 in Pathanamthitta district, 40 in Idukki district, 36 in Thrissur district, 35 in Palakkad district and 17 in Wayanad district.

The list includes the result of the test of Annie Antony, 76, who died in Ernakulam district on July 24. Nabisa, 63, of Kasargod district, Ruhiyabi, 67, and Mohammed Koya, 58, of Kozhikode, and Anjali Surendranath, 40, of Palakkad district died in the State taking the total number of deaths to 60.
Of those confirmed with the infection, 119 arrived from abroad and 106 from other States of India. Of the number of infected 838 got the infection through contact and of this the source of infection is not known in the case of 72 people. Twenty-seven health workers, two BSF jawans in Thrissur, three KSC staff, two KLF staff and three DSC jawans in Kannur district were also infected.
Thirty-four new places were declared hotspots on July 25. At present there are 481 containment zones in the State.
