US reports over 1,000 deaths daily for the first time since May

The United States is one of the worst-affected countries due to the coronavirus outbreak, and as of now, the pandemic has claimed the lives of more than 1,44,953 people in the country.

However, at one point, the coronavirus chart in the country seemed to be looking up, but as several states eased lockdown measures, the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the country has been increasing over the past few weeks. And now, on July 21, the United States reported more than 1,000 coronavirus related deaths, the highest number since May 29.

It should be noted that deaths due to coronavirus had slowed down after months of lockdown, but now, the toll has started rising again, and medical experts believe that it is an alarming fact. According to the latest updates, 63,000 COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in the United States over the past 24 hours, and 59,000 people were hospitalised.

Medical experts believe that coronavirus infections which were initially confined to urban areas have now started affecting people in rural and suburban areas, and this is one of the main reasons behind the rise in cases in the United States.

A few weeks back, Ashish Jha, director of the Harvard Global Health Institute and professor of health policy at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, had claimed that the coronavirus outbreak in the United States is still in its early stages, and the real chaos will be unfolded once the pandemic starts affecting people in the rural areas as well.

Meanwhile, several medical experts across the world have predicted that the second wave of sars coronavirus will hit the world this winter, and the upcoming outbreak could be much deadlier than the first one.
