UAE prepares for nationwide COVID-19 testing

DUBAI

The United Arab Emirate’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced on June 12 that it conducted over 45,000 additional COVID-19 tests using state-of-the-art medical testing methods. The Ministry has affirmed that it will expand the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate early detection of COVID cases and carry out necessary treatment.

Intensified testing campaign has helped MoHAP to detect 479 new cases, taking the total number of cases in the country to 40,986. The Ministry informed that the infected individuals are from various nationalities, are in a stable condition and receiving necessary care.

MoHAP said that 1,217 more persons had fully recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 25,234.

Two people died as a result of COVID-19 complications, and this has raised the total number of deaths in the country to 286, it added. Of the six Keralites who died in the Gulf region on June 11, one is from Abu Dhabi, UAE and another from Oman. In all, 215 Keralites have died of COVID in the Gulf countries so far.
