Tributes pour in for SP Balasubrahmanyam; Modi sends heartfelt message

After a brave battle against the illness for nearly two months, legendary Indian singer SP Balasubrahmanyam took his last breath on September 25. A big blow to the Indian entertainment industry, SPB’s death has literally shocked the entire nation, and people are paying their final tribute to the man who mesmerized everyone with his magical voice.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his Twitter page wrote that the death of SP Balasubrahmanyam has made the Indian cultural world a lot more poorer.

“With the unfortunate demise of Shri SP Balasubrahmanyam, our cultural world is a lot poorer. A household name across India, his melodious voice and music enthralled audiences for decades. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with his family and admirers. Om Shanti,” wrote Modi on his Twitter page.

Rahul Gandhi also shared his condolences on Twitter, and he wrote that the songs of SP Balasubrahmanyam have touched a million hearts, and his songs will live on forever.

Popular singer Shreya Ghoshal revealed that she was fortunate enough to get the blessings of SPB, as the duo have sung several songs together.

“Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam, popularly known as SPB, has been the refreshing notation of film music spanning over five decades, enthralling the connoisseurs and common people alike through his multifaceted talent,” said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Kamal Haasan who shared a close friendship with SPB posted a tribute video on his Twitter page, while Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi called September 25, the darkest day for the world of music.

Rajinikanth expressed his condolences and revealed that the memories of SPB will live forever. In his video, Rajinikanth stated that SP Balasubrahmanyam was a real gem of a person, who marked his presence felt in all Indian languages.
