Transporters to participate in farmers’ protest, Satyendra Jain to visit Delhi border

The farmers protest enters Day 9. Another round of talks between the protesting farmers and the central government will be held on December 5 (Saturday) as the marathon talk on Thursday failed to end the standoff between the two over the new farm laws as the protestors refused to rethink about their demands. AAP Minister Satyendar Jain will visit the Singhu border today at 1 pm to check arrangements made by the Delhi government.

The government side, led by Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, assured the group nearly 40 farmer leaders that all their valid concerns would be discussed and considered with an open mind. Farmers stuck to their demand of repealing the three “hastily-passed” farm laws, saying there were several loopholes and deficiencies.

Meanwhile, thousands of farmers from Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and other states have continued to camp on the outskirts of Delhi in protest, leading to heavy traffic at the border areas.

Transporters Associations from Delhi are expected to join on the protest at the Singhu border. According to the inputs, the plan is to chakka jam more roads to Delhi.

Meanwhile Tamil actor Karthi has urged the Centre to listen to the farmers’ plea and gurantee their farming rights. Karthi, in an open letter to the government, has requested the Centre to listen and act on farmers’ protest immediately. The actor said the protest happening in Delhi is a historical occurrence that has seen huge participation from women and the government should listen to them.

More than 2 lakh Indian farmers and their supporters have occupied the borders of Delhi for days in protest against three new agriculture reform laws, blocking the highways into the capital city and vowing to remain camped there until the laws are repealed.
