										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Extremely heavy rains have been forecast in Kerala’s Idukki, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasragod districts on Sunday. India Meterological Department issued a red alert on these districts and asked authorities to take precautionary steps to shift people staying in disaster-prone areas to safer places.</p>
<p>According to the IMD, a low-pressure area is likely to develop over the North East of Bengal and neighbourhood around September 20 and under its influence widespread rains over Kerala during September 19-21.</p>
<p>An oranges alert has been issued for six districts- Wayanad, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam and Kottayam. A yellow alert has been issued in Alappuzha, Pathnamthitta, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram.</p>
<p>Several parts of the state have been receiving heavy rains in the past few days.</p>
<p>The six shutters of Malankara dam were opened following the increase in water levels in the reservoir. The shutters were 10 centimeters each. Those residing on the banks of Thodapuzha and Muvattupuzha River have been asked to be cautious.</p>
<p>Meanwhile the shutters of Malampuzha and Pothundi dam in Palakkad will be opened 5 centimeters each.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>With parts of Kerala experiencing persistant rain for the last many hours, the Central Water Commission for Flood Forecast has issued an alert for likely flash floods in Thrissur, Palakkad, Kottayam and Idukki districts of Kerala.</p>
<p>A red alert has also been declared in Idukki, Kannur and Kasragod. These regions are likely to experience extremely heavy rain in the coming hours. The alert followed an India Meterological Department (IMD) warning about a low-pressure area in Bay of Bengal.</p>
<p>The state has been witnessing heavy rain at various parts since Friday.</p>
<p>The department has also sounded orange alert (heavy to very heavy rainfall) in Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad, while yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvanathapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts.</p>
<p>Following the alert, the state government has advised fishermen not to venture into sea until further notice.</p>
<p>The IMD also said the state     can expect extremely heavy rain in Idukki, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasragod districts on Sunday, while Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts may witness heavy rainfall.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Central Water Commission(CWC) issued a moderate flood forecast on Tuesday, for south –west Kerala and adjoining south interior and coastal areas of Karnataka for the next 24 hours.</p>
<p>A similar risk has been predicted over the watershed of West Jammu and Kashmir. The Commission cited the India Meterological Department’s (IMD) flash flood guidance as the reason for the warning.</p>
<p>&#8220;Flash Flood Guidance for next 24 hours in respect of Karnataka, Kerala and Jammu and Kashmir issued by IMD (India Meteorological Department) on September 1 valid till September 2, 2020 at 1130 hours is appended,&#8221; the Commission tweeted.</p>
<p>As per the IMD bulletin on September 1, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning very likely at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, South Interior Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala and Mahe.</p>
<p>Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, Odisha, South interior Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala on Wednesday.</p>
<p>Whereas for Thursday, the IMD predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over South Interior Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala and Mahe and heavy downdpour at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan</p>
