In an unusual address, Wray said that China is using espionage, cyber hacking, identity theft and blackmail to all as part of its strategy to replace the US as the world’s dominant superpower.

Threats have been made to the families of those who refuse to return under operation Fox Hunt. At the same time, some have also been arrested in China “for leverage” for refusing to return, Wray said.

The operation Fox Hunt led by Chinese President Xi Jinping targets the Chinese nationals living in the US and give them the choice of either going back to China or killing themselves, reports FBI.

Wray said that nearly half the FBI’s 5,000 active counter-intelligence cases were China-related. Meanwhile, the Chinese embassy did not respond to the allegations yet.
