The first trailer of the big-budget series, ‘A Suitable Boy’ adapted from Vikram Seth’s bestselling novel by the same name has been released. Directed by Mira Nair, the Indian-British show will premiere on July 26 in BBC One.
The story is set in 1951 following partition and tells the story of a charming girl Lata played by Tanya Maniktala who rejects her mother’s proposals to find her a suitable boy to marry. Lata wants to carve her own identity and in the series, she is shown falling in love with a Muslim boy much to the concern of her mother due to religion and caste issues.
On the other hand, we get to see another central character Maan Kapoor played by Ishaan Khatter being infatuated with the beautiful courtesan Saeeda Bai played by Tabu. Their forbidden love and super-duper chemistry is the highlight of the series.
The series also features Ram Kapoor, Rasika Dugal Vivaan Shah, Randeep Hooda, Ranvir Shorey, Vinay Pathak among others in crucial roles.
