Students can appear for CBSE exams from city they are in

The Central Board of Secondary Education has been directed to allow students to appear for their pending board exams from the places they are in. This was help students avoid unnecessary commute as many of them have shifted back to their villages from the hostels.
“Since many students have left their schools or hostels and are now at their homes, I have asked CBSE to allow students to appear for the exam from the place they are in,” Human Resources Minister Ramesh Pokrhiyal Nishank informed through a video message.

To enable this, students will have to give the details of their current status. By the first week of June, students will be informed about their exam centre, he had added. The minister also congratulated students and wished them luck for their board exams. The pending CBSE board exams will be held from July.

This is in addition to the announcement made last week where the HRD minister had said that students will be allowed to appear from the schools they are enrolled in as opposed to traveling to an exam centre. This is being done to save the students and their parents the commute.
However, the Ministry of Home Affairs in another circular had said that no exam centres will be allowed to set-up in the contaminated zone. Thus, students from these areas might have to travel.
The exams will be held amid social distancing norms. The board has increased the number of exam centres from 3,000 to 15,000 to enable students to sit farther away than usual. Before entering exam halls, students will have to undergo mandatory thermal check-ups as well. Also, masks and sanitisers will be allowed in the exam halls.

The evaluation process for the exams which have been conducted is on. The HRD Minister had earlier said that the board is trying to release the result “soon and efforts are being made to declare the result by July-end itself.” The evaluation process is being carried out from home by teachers. To ensure the fast results, HRD had announced that teachers who are involved in the evaluation process will be exempted from delivering academic and administrative work for the tenure.
