Streampax, an interface between makers of newsworthy videos and TV channels/news portals, launched

Streampax, a Bangalore-based startup with a work studio in Kochi as well, has launched its operations at www.streampax.com, which will act as a marketplace for video makers from across the world. Speaking on the launch, K P Ram Mohan, MD, Sreampax, said a lot of TV channels and news portals do not have reporters in remote areas of the country. Anybody with a smartphone or a professional video camera and with a nose for news can make use of this opportunity by uploading their news-worthy videos to Streampax and benefit from it whenever TV channels and news portals purchase those videos. “Streampax would thus act as an interface between netizen journalists and those TV channels/news portals out there,” he said.

From the live streaming happening in Facebook and YouTube from the nooks and corners of the world, channels and portals are facing tough competition and still they cannot afford to have a wide reporter network they should otherwise have. Ram Mohan said Streampax would address this gap. “Anybody can register free of charge at www.streampax.com and start uploading news-worthy videos. Streampax would ensure the authenticity of the videos and edit it for quality. Those videos which get downloaded by channels and portals will be rewarded and Streampax would retain only a fraction of the price. We would like to do what Getty Images and ShutterStock did to images,” Ram Mohan said.

He also added there are nearly 1000 registered users already for the beta version which was test-launched last month. Considering the elections, Streampax expects huge demands for its videos from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Assam and would like to take this number of users to cross 10,000. The portal is already operational to receive and sell videos from across India and would like to expand to other parts of the world in phases. Ram Mohan also said by being able to send real time news from remotest places, Streampax will be able to revolutionise the way news and information are processed and spread.
