Stay away from Palghar beaches, if not, you will be booked

Palghar district in Maharashtra has a handful of beautiful beaches, and people used to visit these places to enjoy their evenings. However, until further notice, it is not recommended to visit these beaches, as it will make you land in legal trouble.

Stay away from Palghar beaches

The authorities have decided to restrict beach visits due to the drastic surge in coronavirus cases. District Collector Dr. Kailash Shinde has recently issued an order prohibiting all kinds of people’s movements near water bodies that include, rivers, dams, waterfalls, and beaches.

Arrests in Palghar’s Kelwe beach

In the meantime, police have booked 17 people who apparently traveled from Mumbai to Kelwe beach in Palghar to carry out a pre-wedding photoshoot. The alleged incident happened on August 19, and those booked include three women.

Even though inter-district travel is not banned in Maharashtra, police officers booked the visitors in the wake of the recent collector’s order that prohibits visits to water bodies.

After spotting the visitors, local residents in the area asked them to leave the beach. They also informed them about the recent prohibitory order that is prevalent around the vicinity of the beach. However, the pre-wedding team refused to leave the place, and soon people informed the police.

According to reports, the police have registered cases against all the 17 people including the bride, groom, and their families for allegedly defying prohibitory orders. They have been also charged under section 269 (negligent act that could cause spread of infectious disease), and Epidemic Act.
