Kozhikode: A snake inside the Thiruvananthapuram- Nizamuddin Express spread panic among passengers on Wednesday night. The snake was spotted by a passenger of S5 sleeper coach between the berths when the train reached Tirur.
Though one of the passengers grabbed the snake, the others yelled pleading not to kill it and the snake was let free.
When the chief ticket inspector immediately informed the control board about the snake, the officials said that the coach could be checked only when the train reaches Kozhikode railway station.
When the coach was examined in Kozhikode at about 10.15 pm the snake was found. But it escaped when the passengers created a fuss.
Later, the officials asked the passengers to deboard the train and checked the whole compartment, including the luggage. However, the snake could not be found. The train left the station after security checks only at 11.10 pm.
