Sharjah nurseries to open on March 28

All government and private nurseries in the emirate of Sharjah will re-open on March 28. This was announced by the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) in consultation with the Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Team (ECDMT) in Sharjah after conducting several inspections and monitoring visits to ensure compliance with COVID precautionary measures and procedures.

“These visits aimed to ensure the commitment of the 74 nurseries of Sharjah and schools to the terms of the guidebook which obligate them to conduct the lab test every two weeks, sterilize the tools used, not to provide meals, as parents are responsible for providing food for their children, to assign a health and safety official who is trained to apply instructions, controls and precautionary requirements,” the authority indicated.

SPEA Chairperson Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi affirmed the authority’s keenness to ensure the health and safety of all players – students, functional cadres, and parents – while providing educational stability. She said that the decision to reopen nurseries came after making sure the nurseries’ commitment and readiness to comply with guidelines.

In mid-February, all public and private schools and nurseries in Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain were asked to resume distance learning after a spike in COVID cases.

At the end of the month, Sharjah education authorities announced all schools and nurseries in the emirate would continue distance learning for the rest of the spring term.

Regular school students in all UAE schools, except in the Indian curriculum schools, will have their spring break from March 28 to April 15. March 25 is the last day of school for the semester. According to the UAE Ministry of Education, teachers will get their off from April 4-15. When school reopens, children will have reduced school hours owing to Ramadan.
